Local before arrival
This association, supported by the citizens of Hamburg since 1817, is still devoted, as it always has been, to the presentation of contemporary art. The works of Caspar David Friedrich, Arnold Böcklin, and Francis Bacon were shown here in early solo exhibitions. Shows in the former market hall, between the Deichtorhallen and the Kunsthalle, react to current trends and socially-relevant topics, which are taken up in the works of both young and established artists.
