Local before arrival
The Gerbermühle (“Tanner Mill”) has been a traditional locale since 1520. Goethe himself once strolled across its beautiful grounds on the Main River. Today it’s the domain of hotel guests and gourmets, with one of Frankfurt’s nicest beer gardens, located—as is befitting a mill—directly on the water’s edge. Under huge chestnut trees, visitors can spend their summer evenings relaxing over Frankfurt’s Äppelwoi (apple wine) and Spundekäs (cream cheese) with pretzels.
