Local before arrival
Time has not been kind to São Paulo’s former center, but now it’s getting new life. Amid the monstrous 1970s buildings, you can find impressive old architecture, and on the smaller streets, you can buy impractical objects, just like in an Istanbul bazaar. Institutions like Bar Brahma have survived and now, gradually, a new scene has formed, with the grungy charm of the Centro of old.
