The California Academy of Sciences houses a rainforest with a living eco-system; and it houses the fascinating underwater world of the Amazon, including piranhas and anacondas. This natural history museum is alive inside and out, and, thanks to its glass structure, merges with Golden Gate Park. “It’s like lifting up a piece of the park and putting a building under it,” Renzo Piano explains his living roof structure which earned a Platinum LEED certification for sustainable architecture.
