BÄCKERBREITERGANG
PHOTOS MAPS

In the shadow of modern office buildings, a few listed and masterfully restored half-timbered houses are hidden. They are typical of the Gängeviertel and were built in the 18th and 19th century as living quarters for the middle and lower classes. Here you can see the narrow cobblestone streets between the rows of houses that were typical of the old Hamburg and built so closely packed with tiny backyards, confined living space and little light.
